School is out for the summer and you are ready to enjoy the beautiful weather… So, now what? Mankato has an abundance of things to do in the summer; whether it be hiking a trail, enjoying one of the various activities in town or getting your feet wet. Below is a list of our top 10 favorite activities:
Take a hike through one of the beautiful trails Mankato has to offer. Some of our personal favorites include the Sakatah Trail, Minneopa State Park and the Red Jacket Trail.
Visit the Solstice Festival – June 18th and 19th – This is an outdoor music festival with local and regional musicians, artists, crafts and food vendors.
Catch a MoonDogs Game – May through August – Mankato MoonDogs are an amateur baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league. These are always fun for people of all ages!
Try to get a hole in one at one of the local golf courses. We love the Minneopa Golf Course (and make sure to grab a cold drink afterwards in the brand new clubhouse)!
North Mankato Fun Days – July 6th through the 10th – Includes five days of fun for people of all ages. Fun Days offers a variety of activities including a parade, carnival, softball tournaments, live music and more.
Bent River Outfitters – All year round – This is your place to rent kayaks, canoes, snowshoes, and stand-up paddle boards, as well as guided trips throughout the Blue Earth County river valley.
Vikings Training Camp – Late July through early August – There’s always fun to be had when the Minnesota Vikings come to town! Walk around Vikings Village, attend the practices/scrimmages or get autographs from your favorite players.
Hiniker Pond – Open year round – Grab your floaty and shades and get some vitamin-D at this 28-acre, spring fed pond. Plenty of room for swimming, fishing or just relaxing on the sandy beach!
19th Annual Ribfest – August 4th through the 7th – “Ribbers” travel from across America to bring Mankato some nationwide flavor, as well as a range of great live music throughout the day. This is a Mankato must!
Looking like it’s going to be a rainy weekend? Grab some friends and head to the Wow! Zone to get your bowl on! Wow! Zone offers bowling, laser tag, mini golf, as well as a full restaurant for all your food and drink needs!
